Tamil Nadu Government Awarded Rs 20 Lakh To Guys Who Won Bronze In Sailing

The Tamil Nadu government awarded the state sports persons Chengappa Ganapathy Kelapandaand Vikas Thakkar for winning the bronze medal in event 49er men sailing event at the Asian Games in Indonesia. The state Chief Minister K Palaniswami has announced a cash incentive of Rs 20 lakhs. The government had given this cash for their feat. This is according to the policy of government for promoting the sport talent in Tamil Nadu.

There was a separate letters written to Kelapanda and Thakkar by the Chief Minister. In the letter the boys were lauded for the medal-winning performance. It was written in the letter that state, the boys has made the country proud. Both Kelapanda and Thakkar will receive the sum of Rs 20 lakh. This is the incentive that was announced by the late Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, J Jayalalithaa for sports persons who win medals in the international games.

He said, “On behalf of the Government of Tamil Nadu and the people I again once to extend my warm wishes to you and to all those who supported the two young boys in this achievement. I wish you both bring more rewards to the country and for the state in the future,” he told them. In addition to this, the state Chief Minister announced a reward of amount Rs 20 lakh for paddler A Sharath Kamal, for winning another bronze medal in the same Asiad games.

Palaniswami said “I am glad to hear that you have become the winner of the second medal in the ongoing 18th Asian Games. We wish you great luck and future for 2018 Bronze Medal in the event Table Tennis mixed doubles”. The CM said that Kamal has now become eligible to receive the higher cash incentive of Rs 20 lakhs, in addition to the similar amount announcement made for on August 29.
